Midwest Maintenance gets vote of confidence

Midwest Maintenance has the confidence of Upland Design Group when it comes to its ability to complete work on WCMS’s pedestrian bridges at the price given.
Concern was expressed during a county Financial Management Committee meeting for Midwest Maintenance’s bid of $98,750. The price was $59,250 below a cost estimate for the project, and almost half a prior bid of $181,000.
During Monday’s county Education Committee meeting, Upland Design Group architect Allen Hill attempted to ease those worries.
“We do have a previous experience working with them,” said Hill of Midwest Maintenance. “We’ve done several projects with them. It’s gone good so far.”
Commissioner Terry Bell asked, “So you feel they will be able to do it for that amount, even though they were significantly lower?”
“Yes,” said Hill. “Let me put it this way, they have not let us down yet. They just finished up a project in Cumberland County. They did a couple of schools in Cumberland County. They are a fairly large company and specialize in this type of work.”
Hills says the company was given until the 2018-19 school year begins to complete the work so as not to interfere with instructional time.
The project was bid twice in an effort to lower the cost under the $158,000 estimate.
