An official farewell was offered to Warren County Fair Board president Kenneth Medlen during Monday’s meeting of the Warren County Commission.
Medlen, 64, passed away Nov. 7. He spent four decades as a fair board member and served as its president since November 2013.
County Exeuctive Jimmy Haley presented family members a proclamation for Medlen’s dedicated service to the community and stated that a commemorative brick for him would be added to a sidewalk in historic downtown McMinnville.
“Sometimes what we do as elected officials is a sad moment,” said Haley. “The tragic passing of Kenneth Medlen, who was our fair board president, came as a great shock to all of us. Along with most of us, we’ve been grieving over his untimely loss. So, tonight, we wanted to recognize the family and do something special in recognition for his many years of service that Kenneth and his family have given to Warren County.”
In attendance were Medlens’ wife Jewel, daughters Tracey Scott and Becky Clark, sons-in-law Brian Scott and Joey Clark, and granddaughter Hattie Scott.
Haley added, “Having known Kenneth my whole life – gone to grade school with him, graduated high school with him and worked with him on so many projects – it’s near and dear to my heart to be able to share a moment like this with the family.”
The proclamation called Medlen an outstanding citizen and stated, “The remarkable man’s countless hours of community service with numerous volunteer organizations has made a tremendous impact on Warren County to improve the quality of life for all its residents.”
