A Moose is on the loose and McMinnville native Allison Hubert will be returning to her hometown on Wednesday to tell children all about it.
Hubert, who moved from McMinnville to Nashville, has published a children's book titled "Moose on the Loose," now available on Amazon. Hubert will be at Magness Library on Wednesday at 10 a.m. to read her story to young readers.
The book stresses the value of kindness and inclusion and is based on an incident Hubert heard about while in Billings, Montana as a med surge travel nurse.
"The story was inspired by a news article about a moose that had wandered into the city and made itself at home. Because I always wanted to write a book, I decided to start with a children’s book, since I love children. This story is a representation of the promise I made to myself, that I would make the time to pursue my dreams, even if in a small way. I hope this story will play a part in helping children to learn kindness because, to me, there is no greater value," Hubert said.
The humorous children's story tells the tale of a little moose who gets lost in the city and goes on an adventure to find his way home. Along the way, he learns the importance of friendship, inclusion, persistence and appreciation for nature.
The book's attractive illustrations and simple storyline are aimed at children ages 4 - 8. Hubert invites everyone to come join her at the library Wednesday morning to share the little moose's journey with her. Magness Library is located at 118 W. Main St. and can be reached at (931) 473-2428.
