A local woman was killed Tuesday in a crash on the four-lane to Murfreesboro.

McMinnville resident Andrea Lewis, 37, died in the single-car wreck, according to the Highway Patrol.

According to the preliminary crash report, the accident took place on John Bragg Highway near its intersection with Mt. Hermon Road in Rutherford County.

McMinnville resident Manuel Lewis Jr., 36, was driving a 2006 Honda Accord with Andrea Lewis and Kara Simons, 28, both of McMinnville, as his passengers.

The report does not indicate where the passengers were sitting in the vehicle.

Trooper K. White responded to the scene. “Upon my arrival and investigation, the vehicle had left the roadway to the right, striking a tree and catching on fire, killing one of the passengers,” White wrote in the report.

Simons was injured and transported to Vanderbilt Hospital. Manuel Lewis was not injured.

There have been no charges leveled in relation to the crash.
