Lenten meditations return

Dr. John Purdue launched the weekly Lenten services Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The meditations continue every Wednesday at noon for the next six weeks.

The local tradition of mid-week Lenten meditations has returned for the pre-Easter season with services open to the public every Wednesday at 12 p.m. noon at First United Methodist Church.

The first of the seven-week series of brief lessons featured Dr. John Purdue, pastor of the historic church at West Main and Chancery Street, as the lead speaker on Wednesday. Ministers from various other churches in Warren County will serve as presenters during the 40-day Lent observance, each bringing a different perspective on Easter themes.

Those congregations will be offering a complimentary soup-and-sandwich luncheon to all visitors in the First United fellowship hall immediately after the service.

Public radio 91.3 WCPI continues its long-standing series of recorded Lenten meditations every Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
