Warren County Jail has been recertified for the third year in a row.
Recertification used to be an ongoing struggle with the jail, but in the last few years feedback was listened to and the jail has improved. At the Warren County Commission meeting Monday night, Sheriff Tommy Myers was allowed to share the good news.
“This morning the state was at our jail and inspected us again and I am proud to let you know we are certified for three years in a row now,” said Myers.
The Warren County Jail is inspected annually by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. A surprise visit in 2019 resulted in a 60-day notice of a follow-up inspection and recommendations for improvements that needed to be made. Tennessee Corrections Institute does not provide notification of initial inspections. They can occur anytime throughout the year.
This year’s inspection went well resulting in the recertification of the jail. Myers credited hard work and teamwork as the reason the jail is doing well.
