McMinnville just got a little warmer because of the Coats for the Community coat giveaway.

Almost 300 coats were given away Saturday by members of Junior Auxiliary.

“The best part of this event is being able to help out families in our community,” said JA member Catherine Bryant.

Only a couple families were allowed inside at a time, masks and sanitizer were available, and social distancing was encouraged. Those stipulations didn’t hinder the success of Coats for the Community, just in time for nippy weather.

Hoodies, hats, and jackets of all kinds were available. All coats that weren’t claimed were sent back to the school system’s Family Resource Center so they can continue helping students and families throughout the year.

Bryant said, “We had a very successful event this morning giving away 280 coats. We look forward to this event every year.”

Coats for the Community continues to improve our community by ensuring everyone has something to keep warm. You can still donate items to the Family Resource Center.
