A man previously charged for setting fires has now received a vandalism charge after setting off a sprinkler head at the Warren County Jail.
On Tuesday, Dominique Desean Cox, pleaded guilty to vandalism and was sentenced to 150 days in jail and had to pay restitution and court costs. According to the warrant, on May 28, Captain Kevin York responded to a fire alarm set off by a sprinkler being activated. The sprinkler had been activated in Cox’s pod.
After an investigation, the sprinkler was found to be vandalized to the point of activation and the approximate value of the sprinkler was $475.
Cox is no stranger to facing charges. On July 28, 2021, he was charged with reckless burning after allegedly confessing to setting fire to a field on Magness Drive near the ambulance station. In August of 2021, Cox was charged with reckless burning after allegedly setting his grandmother’s hotel room on fire. Cox told police he was making rice on a hot plate and forgot to turn it off, which sparked the fire. Despite his version of events, Cox was charged.
In September of 2021, Cox was charged with domestic assault after reportedly assaulting his grandmother. Cox and his 56-year-old grandmother were on their way to Kroger when Cox asked for some of her prescription medication. The grandmother said no. This reportedly made Cox furious and he allegedly used a pipe to begin beating on her vehicle when she parked. He reportedly beat out the back window and the taillight and then kicked his grandmother in her calf. A witness in the parking lot called 911.
Cox was then ordered to serve jail time and then spend two years on probation in a plea that resolves all of his cases. He entered guilty pleas to two counts of reckless burning and one count of domestic assault.
In March of this year, Cox pleaded guilty to a violation of probation and was ordered to serve 180 days in jail. Consecutive to this sentence, he pleaded guilty to theft and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days to be served on supervised probation, with restitution in the amount of $119.99 to Shoe Sensation. He also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and received a sentence of six months to serve 10 days in jail, the balance on supervised probation. He further pleaded guilty to perjury and was ordered to serve 30 days in jail. Lastly, he pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic assault and received a two-year sentence to serve 90 days in jail, the balance on supervised probation. He was also ordered to successfully complete batterers intervention, undergo a mental health assessment and follow all recommended treatment, pay a $350 fine, stay away from the victim, undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and follow all recommended treatment.
