In continuing their recent holiday tradition, restaurant owners J.R. and Annette Herrin will be offering a free meal on Christmas Day to those in need.

The meal will be served Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hickory Creek BBQ at Plaza Shopping Center. On the menu is turkey and dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, and dessert. J.R. will also be preparing his famous giblet gravy.

“It’s part of giving back to the community,” said J.R. “Everybody seems real appreciative of it. This is the first year we’ve been at this spot and we have outdoor seating. From what I’m seeing on the forecast, it should be a nice day with temperatures in the 60s.”

This is the fourth year Hickory Creek BBQ has offered the free holiday meal.

“We don’t have kids so this is something we enjoy doing on Christmas,” said Annette, who added that last year they served around 100.
