Sex offender Brian Scott Hickey pleaded guilty to a violation of sex offender registry laws Wednesday in Circuit Court. A scheduled extradition hearing was waived based on him being a fugitive from justice in Florida.

As a Range I offender, Hickey was sentenced to two years, 180 days to serve with the Tennessee Department of Corrections. The sentencing is consecutive to his prior charges, but concurrent with charges he has in Florida.

Occurring here last September, this was his second offense of failing to report to the registry, a Class E felony. Counts two and three were dismissed. Previously convicted as a child molester in 2012, Hickey had been charged with violation of the sex offender registry after not registering a social media account. He was charged with three counts of failing to do so.

One of the rules sex offenders on the registry must follow is, “within three days, the offender shall register any electronic mail, instant message, chat or other internet communication name or identity information that the person uses or intends to use.”

He is also listed on the TBI website as being violent against children.
