Hendrix, 23, dies in single-car crash
A driver was killed and his passenger critically injured in a crash Monday night on Old Shelbyville Road.The fatally injured driver, Zachary Hendrix, 23, was dead at the scene while his passenger, Joseph Allen, 22, was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Both men reportedly lived on John Oliver Road in Warren County.According to Highway Patrolman Brent Collier, the wreck happened shortly after 9 p.m. on Old Shelbyville Road at the entrance of Bellewood subdivision.“The vehicle was traveling inbound when the driver lost control and ran off the left side of the road,” Collier reported, noting he is unsure what prompted his loss of control since he was not able to speak with the survivor before he was airlifted.The 2003 Buick continued off the road and hit a tree and then slammed into the brick Bellewood entry gate. Hendrix was ejected, causing the fatal injuries.Hendrix is the 15th fatality this year on Warren County roads.
