A local man has reportedly admitted to a sex act with an 8-year-old girl, leading to the charge of child rape.

The man, Mathew Ryan Harris, 26, has been charged and is currently free on $100,000 bond.

According to the warrant issued by Sheriff’s Department investigator Jason Rowland, law enforcement officials were notified of the incident Dec. 12. It reportedly happened in the fall of 2017.

The warrant says the Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children’s Services both received the referral because it involved an unlawful sex act between Harris and an 8-year-old victim.

“The victim was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center and made a disclosure she had been digitally penetrated by Mathew Ryan Harris,” wrote Rowland in his complaint. “Mr. Harris was interviewed at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and admitted to this digital penetration.”

Rape of a child is a Class A felony punishable by a minimum 25 years, according to Tennessee Code Annotated.
