The 12th annual Great Bodies Car Show and Swap Meet is this Saturday, Aug. 12.
The event is hosted by Champion Chevrolet, Commissioner Blaine Wilcher and Dr Pepper and will be at Champion Chevrolet located at 1600 Sparta St. It will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event benefits Families in Crisis. Families in Crisis offers emergency shelter, legal advocacy, transportation, food, clothing, therapy and multiple other services structured around the needs of domestic and sexual violence survivors.
With 100 awards, whether it’s a motorcycle, truck, car, Jeep, race car or even a wheel barrel, there will be a lot of nice rides to look at. Event organizer Wilcher says there will be something for everyone at this event.
“We always have great food, great 80’s music, door prizes, silent auction items, and lots of fun,” said Wilcher.
This year, 25 more awards have been added. There will be a Top 50 and 50 more class awards, including the “Top Gun." The Top Gun is given to the entry with the highest score. All the awards have names that refer to something from the 1980’s.
Dash plaques and special gifts go to the first 100 participants. It is $25 for one vehicle, $40 for two and $50 for three. Swap meet booths are $25.
Everyone is encouraged to come hungry, bring your friends, look at all the classic rides and raise money for a worthy cause. “All the money raised goes to Families in Crisis to help with the urgent needs they face daily,” said Wilcher,
The rain out date, if needed, is scheduled for next Saturday, Aug. 19.
Wilcher said they do not plan on cancelling the show unless the weather forecast is extreme. Wilcher can be reached at 931-743-2461.
