Galaz gets year for burglary

A man who was half of a burglary ring that victimized several homes around the county has been sentenced to a year in jail.The man, David James Galaz, 38, entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to eight criminal counts including aggravated burglary, burglary, grand theft, theft, vandalism and evading arrest. He was ordered to serve 365 days of a six-year sentence meaning, with time-served, he will be released Feb. 10. As part of his probation, he will be required to make half the restitution to the victims.The other half will come from the pocket of his partner in crime, Kelly Lynn Steel, 36, of Watertown who entered a guilty plea early last year and has already served her time.
