For those looking to get into the Halloween spirit, there's no better place and time than downtown this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. As part of Main Street McMinnville's October Second Saturday event, Warren County Historian Jimmy Haley will be conducting a free walking ghost tour of Main Street.

"I've been doing some tours on Second Saturday but some people wanted me to do a Halloween-themed one this month. We're going to start at McMinnville First United Methodist Church downtown and we'll walk down the street talking about murders and mysteries and mayhem. We'll cover some of the notorious stories, the people behind them and some of the unsolved mysteries of McMinnville," Haley said.

All are welcome to attend. If crowd size necessitates it, multiple tours will be conducted. The tour will last approximately one hour and anyone interested in attending is encouraged to meet in the parking lot at McMinnville First United Methodist Church at 200 W Main St. at 5:30 p.m.

"It usually takes about an hour but it depends on what people want to hear. Sometimes it's more like an hour and a half because people want to hear more of the stories. There are about eight to 10 stories I have to tell, including ones about the Black House, the library, the hospital, the Park Theater and other places on Main Street," Haley said.

As part of Second Saturday, Main Street businesses will be open late and live entertainment will be offered. Many businesses will be gearing up for Christmas so it will be a great time to start planning holiday shopping as well as hear some spine-tingling tales of the past.
