Saint Thomas Health is offering a multitude of free health services this Saturday, June 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Warren County High School.
The free medical care that will be available includes dental care, vision care, diabetes screenings and cholesterol screenings.
“We’ll have vision exams and have eyeglasses to give away,” said Saint Thomas River Park CEO Dale Humphrey. “We can do teeth extractions if necessary. We’ll also have a mobile mammography vehicle on hand to provide free mammograms.”
Humphrey says Saint Thomas conducts three or four of these free medical missions annually. The most recent one in this region was held in Grundy County.
Humphrey says offering health services for free provides Saint Thomas with an opportunity to give back to the community and help people correct medical issues they may not otherwise be able to resolve.
“This is really a way for us to show Christ-like behavior as a ministry of the church,” said Humphrey. “We will be dispensing medication to some people free of charge, provided they have a prescription for it. Some medication is very expensive and hard to afford.”
Through the efforts of physicians and other medical service providers volunteering their time, Humphrey says the free health mission will be able to accommodate 1,000 people this Saturday.
In addition to health services, attendees will be served a meal. Fruit will be available for visitors to take home if they wish.
This event is part of Saint Thomas Health’s mission to provide healthcare access to those who are underinsured and uninsured.
