There will be baby shows, chocolate pies, and plenty of red, white and blue as Warren County begins celebrating the Fourth of July next weekend.
Activities start Saturday, July 2 and continue through Monday, July 4 in communities across the county.
The popular Dr Pepper Fireworks show will be Saturday night at Milner Recreation Center to provide a patriotic blast. The rest of McMinnville’s celebration will be held July 4 in downtown McMinnville beginning with the 41st annual Stars and Stripes Fun Run and Walk.
Morrison has its entire celebration set for Saturday with the opening ceremony set for 4 p.m. There will be Bingo, live music, and fireworks, among other events.
“With the actual Fourth falling on a Monday, we thought a lot of people might have to go back to work on Tuesday so having it Saturday is better for us,” said Morrison Mayor Sue Anderson.
Downtown McMinnville will be a hotbed of activity the morning of July 4, including the Yankee Doodle Children’s Parade at 9:30 a.m. and the Mr. and Miss Stars and Stripes Pageant at 11 a.m. Midway has a full day of activities beginning July 4 at 11 a.m., including a pie contest, horseshoe tournament and baby show. Centertown is having its fireworks show Sunday night at 9 p.m., but the community won’t be doing any other Fourth of July activities.
