First Baptist Church is presenting the Christmas production “A Night of Christmas Music” on Dec. 9 and 10 at 6 p.m. The presentation is directed by new associate pastor of worship Weldon Whitt featuring a cast of almost 50.
The First Baptist choir consists of 33 members, with an orchestra of 12 coming together to perform the slate of holiday selections. Kennette Dixon is the pianist.
“We have a group of very talented people involved in the program,” said Whitt. “In fact, our oldest player is Wally Bigbee, who is 83 years old.”
“A Night of Christmas Music” also features a drama section, with both adults and children involved, as well as an inspirational video. The program will last approximately one hour.
Whitt and his wife, Kim, are originally from Muscle Shoals, Ala., with him serving in the music ministry for 20 years. They have been with First Baptist for three months and love sharing the love of Christmas.
“Because of Christmas, my whole family found God and changed our lives,” said Whitt. “This musical reminds that there is only one First Noel, therefore all the Noels to follow were celebrations of that extraordinary Holy Night.”
First Baptist is located at 403 North Spring Street, and everyone is invited to take part in the holiday celebration.
“This could be your time to experience the miracle of Christmas,” said Whitt. “Come and worship, and you will not be turned away. This could be your First Noel.”
