Fireworks are scheduled to put a dazzling end to Relay for Life activities Friday night at Nunley Stadium. The annual fundraiser to benefit cancer research is set for this Friday, June 2, beginning at 5 p.m.“We’re hoping fireworks will be a good attraction to bring people out to enjoy the night,” said Carla Savage, one of the Relay for Life organizers. “We’ll have some great food, games, entertainment and traditional ceremonies like the survivor lap and the luminaria ceremony.”The schedule is as follows:• 5 p.m. On the Road Again Show• 6:30 p.m. Opening ceremony• 7 p.m. Survivor lap• 8 p.m. Relay auction• 9 p.m. Luminaria ceremony with fireworks immediately followingWhat was once an all-night celebration that spilled into Saturday morning has been condensed to about five hours. Savage says that’s because continual efforts to raise money for cancer have eclipsed what can be generated in one night.“We work year-round for this one cause and we want to find a cure,” said Savage.
