A fire that started late Monday night destroyed the Douglass home next to Hardees on West Main Street.
The fire that destroyed a historic home owned by John and Shirley Douglass may not have been an accident.Fire officials hope a $5,000 reward for information which leads to an arrest and conviction may serve to spark a few tips.The fire began Monday night around 11 p.m. and left the West Main Street home next to Hardee’s a total loss.Despite initial concerns the structure may be too unstable to allow people inside, McMinnville Fire Chief Kendall Mayfield says state fire officials have been able to conduct an investigation.“These fire officials know what they’re looking for and they were able to find a few things,” said Mayfield. “There was no electricity on the back porch and that’s where it began. There’s nothing that can be done with that house now.
