Father charged in ATV crash

A father who crashed his ATV while drinking and taking pills, leaving his 8-year-old son seriously injured, has been charged with vehicular assault.The father, Martin Blaine Young, 52, has been bound to the grand jury on charges of vehicular assault and drunk driving. He faces two to four years in jail if he is convicted of the felony assault charge.Lawmen say Young was driving a Honda Fourtrax ATV that collided with a trailer being towed by a truck on Randall Hitchcock Road.“He had red, blood-shot and watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol about his person,” said Highway Patrolman Tony Myers. “He admitted to consuming two beers and taking hydrocodone prior to the crash.”The blood test came back showing he had a blood/alcohol level that was .043, short of the .08 blood-alcohol content for legal intoxication.
