Running a red light has been cited as the cause for a Friday afternoon crash at Sunset Road and the bypass.
According to McMinnville Police officer Andy Aguilar, Roger Curtis, 55, was traveling inbound on Manchester Highway in a Silverado pickup when he entered the Sunset Drive intersection in front of McMinnville Funeral Home.
“Based off witness reports, Curtis had a red light and failed to stop,” said Aguilar. “Evidence gathered at the scene corroborated witness reports. Due to his condition, he was not cited on scene. He likely will be, but at a later date.”
Curtis suffered injuries to his legs, chest and head.
His pickup struck a Toyota Avalon that had pulled from Sunset Drive. The vehicle contained husband and wife, Warren County residents Robert and Joan Jordan, both 87 years old. Robert was entrapped and had to be extricated from the car.
After the impact, the Silverado traveled left into outbound lanes of traffic. It struck the rear driver’s side of a Ford pickup truck driven by Woodbury resident Andrew Reagan, 38, who was uninjured.
Warren County EMS requested Life Flight to Vanderbilt for Mr. Jordan. However, due to inclement weather and high winds, all helicopters declined to make the flight. All three were transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital.
“Mr. Jordan was in severe condition when I checked on him,” said Aguilar. “I’m unsure about Mrs. Jordan or Mr. Curtis.”
The collision occurred Friday at 2:45 p.m.
