Edwards running for sheriff
Bobby Edwards

My name is Bobby Edwards and I am an independent candidate for sheriff. I graduated from Warren County Senior High 1972. After high school, I enlisted in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge after serving my country.

My law enforcement career started in 1989 at the Warren County Sheriff’s Department as a jailor before becoming a deputy and attending the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in April of 1990.  From 1994 to 1997 I worked as an investigator at the WCSD. In 1997 I went to work for the Murfreesboro Police Department as a patrolman until my retirement in 2013.

While working at Murfreesboro Police Department, I received several letters of commendation, but my proudest award was when I was chosen as Murfreesboro’s Office of the Year in 2012. I was selected from over 200 police officers.

From working at the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and a large police Department in the city of Murfreesboro, I have gained valuable experiences different from all the other candidates. With over 22 years of law enforcement experience I feel I am very qualified to be your next sheriff.

As sheriff, I will implement new programs for children during the summer while school is out, such as Radkids for children 8-13 years of age. Being a former Radkids instructor, for Murfreesboro Police Dept., I have seen first hand this program works. I will also focus on the recidivism rate of the inmates at Warren County Jail with faith-based programs that work.

The Warren Co Sheriff’s Dept. is in need of a change. It’s time for new leadership and a fresher perspective. We need more school resource officers to keep our schools safer. More patrol officers on the county roads for protection and better response times in the county. We have a police dept. that covers inside the city limits.

Although I worked for Murfreesboro Police Dept. I never truly left. I have lived here the entire time and drove back and forth. My wife Leah and I have five children between us. One still lives at home, one lives in Columbia, and three grown children who live right here. My grandchildren were raised here and now my great-grandson, and their futures are of great concern to me. I want them to live in a place that is safe.

I am actively involved in my church (First Assembly of God), where my wife and I are members. We love our church family and I am thankful I live in a country where we are free to worship.

If I am elected I will do my very best to make sure my family and yours are safe and protected as possible. I am asking you to help me make a difference Aug. 2, by electing me Bobby Edwards your Warren County Sheriff.
