Eastside School will be inducting three individuals into its Hall of Fame during the Student Council Banquet this Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m.
“I feel that it’s very important to give recognition to these people who are going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” said Student Council sponsor Jason Gann. “We feel this is the highest award we can offer as a school. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which consists of all current Hall of Fame members, have voted on and chosen the following inductees.”
Inducted in the class of 2016 as an honored educator is Carol Barrett, who served as a longtime teacher for over 40 years at Eastside.
“Carol began her career here and retired from this school,” said Gann. “Her years of service range from the early 1970s until her retirement in 2014. Carol passed away in 2015, therefore this recognition will be a posthumous award. Her daughter will be accepting on her behalf.”
Joining Barrett is Gwynne Bennett, who will be inducted as an honored educator.
“Gwynne taught at Eastside from the early 1970s to the early 1990s,” said Gann. “She then went on to teach as one of the first teachers of the newly formed Warren County Middle School. She then went on to teach at Warren County High School.”
Seth Wright, Southern Standard editorial design supervisor, has been selected as honored alumnus inductee.
“Seth went to Eastside School, graduating from the school when it only went through sixth grade,” said Gann. “He has gone on to do much creative work in graphic design, digital art, and illustration. He will be awarded for excelling in his studies while at the school, as well as for using his education to positively impact others.”
The Hall of Fame banquet will be held in the school’s cafeteria. During the event, Student Council officers will be presenting each other with awards. Also, there will be a slide show, and dinner will be served. At the conclusion of the night, the fifth class of inductees into the Eastside School Hall of Fame will be recognized.
