An impaired driver has been sentenced to eight days in jail after she made her own door buster while Krogering, slamming her vehicle through the front door of the local grocery store.The woman, Charlotte D. Ferrell, was instructed by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to serve eight days of an 11-29 sentence, perform 24 hours public service work, pay $350 plus costs, attend DUI class and make restitution to Kroger for DUI and violation of the financial responsibility law.McMinnville police officer Chris Odom said he arrived at Kroger to find Ferrell’s 2001 Chevrolet had slammed into the front door of the store at Three Star Mall.“She ran through the entry door of Kroger, causing extensive damage,” said Odom, noting she explained what happened. “She admitted she had failed to stop while traveling through the parking lot.”During their conversation, Odom said he noticed something wasn’t right about the woman. “Her pupils were constricted.”It was at that point Ferrell told the officer she had taken medications earlier in the morning.“She admitted she had consumed a hydrocodone and a Xanax prior to the accident,” Odom noted, adding she could not successfully complete field sobriety tests at the scene given her condition.
