Warren County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a drive-by shooting at Turner’s Marine on Smithville Highway.
“If someone had been working in the front office when the shot was fired, they might have been killed,” said David Turner. “It’s terrifying to think about.”
The incident occurred Sunday, Oct. 3 at approximately 6:11 p.m. and was caught on surveillance camera.
“You can see the red truck travel from McMinnville towards Smithville,” said Turner. “A few minutes later, that same red truck comes back through and stops on Smithville Highway. The driver’s side window is down. It waits for an oncoming vehicle to pass and then, the truck moves forward a little and stops again. He’s taking aim at the office door.”
Simultaneously, a second camera catches the image of the window in the office door shattering as a bullet travels through it. The projectile traveled across the room and struck in the area of a metal filing cabinet.
“Then, he drives off towards McMinnville,” said Turner. “It’s obvious that we were targeted. I just don’t know why. I’m been trying to figure out who that might be, but I have no idea. We haven’t had any arguments with anyone. I wish I knew who that was. If they did it once, they might do it again.”
The truck, said Turner, appears to be a Ford F-150 extended cab.
