Temperatures can increase dramatically inside a parked car in the summer, making a dangerous situation for dogs, even if a window is cracked, animal welfare activists say.
There are doggie dos and don’ts to keep in mind during the summer months.With temperatures creeping higher, Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center director Kim Pettrey is reminding pet owners that vehicles should not be used as pet sitters. “It doesn’t take much time for the temperature inside your car to get high enough to kill your pet, even with the windows cracked,” said Pettrey. “One trip into the store could be all it takes for your pet to suffer heat-related stress or even die.
