EMS interim director Preston Denney could soon find out if he can drop the temporary status from his current position. The county Safety Committee will meet Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “recommendation of EMS director appointment” and receive an EMS update.County Executive Herschel Wells has the authority to hire and appoint department directors. However, he says he would prefer to have committee recommendation.“I can appoint someone,” said Wells.
