Santa letters are a centuries-old tradition. The history behind writing Santa letters is about as mystical as Santa himself.
As the tradition goes, little boys and girls sit down with paper and pencil, or crayon, and write to Santa telling him how well they have behaved through the year, detailing the good things they have done, and why they deserve to be bestowed with the gifts they desire.
Here at the Southern Standard, we have another tradition. We publish Santa letters in editions of the paper up until Christmas, as space allows. The letters are published as written by children with no corrections made. The deadline is Dec. 15.

Dear Santa,
I have been a good girl this year. I hope you bring me some makeup. I also wold like a kitten. I also wold like a baby doll whith some bows and dipers. I will bring some coockies and milkd to you. I love you!

I would like to meet you and ride in your sled. But you know what I want the most is every kid to get a gift. P.S. I will get you some of my pa’s sweet feed for your raindeer.
