Celebrating Mother’s Day at the Magness Library, mothers and daughters along with the ladies of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) toasted with tea and crumpets Saturday. The Magness Library partnered with the DAR to sponsor this event.
With a floral theme and Earl Grey tea in dainty cups and saucers, attendees got to listen to a story and visit with friends at the annual event. Several mothers and daughters dressed up in their spring finery with flowers and bows. Even some sons and fathers attended the event in support of their mother.
Abby York, who has attended multiple times in her young life, said “It’s always a lot of fun to try the teas and food and meet new people. We also get to hear a good book read by the librarian.”
Magness Library Assistant Director Merrissa Chapman read “The Camping Trip That Changed America,” a book about how the National Parks of America got their start through President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir.
The Magness Library is currenlty having a book sale that will run through May 25.
