A man has been given 160 days in jail for choking his girlfriend while he was behind the wheel of his car and then crashing while he committed the crime.The man, Christopher Lee Cripps, 30, entered best-interest pleas to charges of aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a revoked license and being a habitual traffic offender. He was ordered to serve 160 days of a six-year sentence, perform 60 hours public service work, pay $2,200 plus costs and lose his driver license for six years.According to the victim, the assault happened after they had been arguing for some time and decided to go driving around.“While driving down Smithville Road, the argument turned physical and he started punching her in the left side of the face,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Walker, noting the victim was so scared she thought about jumping out of the moving vehicle. “She said she opened the door, thinking about jumping out of the car when she realized they were moving too fast.”The victim told lawmen Cripps pulled her back inside the moving vehicle by the hair of her head and continued punching her.
