Over 40 vendors will exhibit at the 42nd annual Rock Island Fall Festival this weekend at Rock Island State Park. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For visitors planning a trip to beautiful Rock Island State Park, this weekend is the perfect time for a visit. On Sept. 23-24 the 42nd annual Rock Island Fall Festival is presented by the Rock Island Lions Club.
Activities will take place in the sand bar area of the park Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rock Island Lions president Jan Lowe and her slate of officers and members have worked tirelessly planning and organizing the event, as it serves as a fundraiser for the club.
There is no admission to the festival, but parking attendants will collect voluntary donations to benefit the Lions Club White Cane program. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Lions Club, with their mission being to help the needy secure eyeglasses.
Currently over 40 vendors have secured spots with space still available. Contact Sandra or Don Griffin as soon as possible at 686-4180 if interested.
“We have several folks registered for booths,” said Don. “We have some great food vendors and live entertainment coming Saturday.”
Some of the vendors include woodturning and woodcraft, jewelry, home décor, ladies and children clothing, horseshoe art, rustic furniture, essential oils and home-baked items, just to name a few.
Booths featuring various food and beverage items will be available, as well as the popular beans and cornbread provided by the Lions Club. Delicious cotton candy, caramel corn, ice cream and assorted baked goods will answer sweet tooth demands.
Another unique feature will be programs from the Rock Island Park rangers. They will be onsite manning a booth offering fun activities to visitors of all ages.
“We never know what activity they will come up with,” said Sandra. “But I’m sure it will be both fun and educational. They do a wonderful job with their programs and are such an important part of the park.”
Lions Club officers assisting in the endeavor include Jeannie Madewell, vice president; Maggie Hyatt, secretary; and Don Griffin, treasurer.
