County recovering from sickness

Warren County is beginning to recover from the recent outbreaks of flu and COVID, as cases are dropping and students returned to school Tuesday.

Due to rising absentee numbers from sickness and flooding Warren County schools closed Wednesday and Thursday, and scheduled a virtual learning day Friday.

“We never want to close schools unless it’s absolutely necessary, but in this case, we felt it was the best decision,” Director of Schools, Dr. Grant Swallows said. “The improved attendance today (Tuesday), along with increased faculty and staff availability, tells us it was beneficial.”

According to reports from the CDC, the 2025 flu season has had the most reported cases in over 15 years and has been the cause of 68 deaths. However, flu and Covid-19 cases are beginning to decline in Tennessee.

NHC Healthcare McMinnville recently experienced multiple cases of Covid-19. Due to the staff at NHC closely following CDC guidelines, all patients have now recovered, and the center has returned to its standard procedure.
