Finance Department director Justin Cotten is resigning.

Cotten was approved as the Finance Department director in August of 2018 and announced his resignation earlier this month. Former Finance Department director Linda Hillis hired Cotten in April 2012. When she retired in 2018, he was her replacement.

He intends to resign by June 2 in order to complete the budget and train his replacement.

In his resignation letter Cotten said, “I have been offered another position that will better align with my long-term career and life goals. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Warren County for the last 11 years.”

Cotten is a Warren County High School graduate who got to work closely with his former teacher, Jimmy Haley who served as County Executive from 2018 to 2022.

The County Commission will vote to accept his resignation at its Monday night meeting. Applications for his replacement are currently being accepted. The final day to submit an application is Friday, March 24.
