Halloween has passed, but that doesn’t mean we’re all out of treats yet.
In collaboration with Crisp Springs Market Fireworks, the Southern Standard sponsored its second annual Halloween Costume Contest for the community.
There were three categories that grouped individuals according to age: 0-12 and 13 and up. Alongside humans, a category for pets who wanted to get frightfully festive was offered as well.
The contest stretched from Oct. 19 to Nov. 2 with enthusiastic participation garnering over 50 entries and 700 votes cast on www.southernstandard.com. One winner was chosen from each of the three categories.
Winners of the Halloween Costume Contest are:
0-13 Years: Kylen Lewis
13 and up: Jody Arnold
Pets: Maverick owned by Jerry Farley
Each winner receives $25 for their efforts, which can be picked up at the Southern Standard office during business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
