AUGUST 4

A gospel meeting is set to be held at Unity Church of Christ located at 2178 Pigeon Hill Road Aug. 4 through Aug. 7. Sunday morning class begins at 9 a.m. and worship follows at 10 a.m. Lunch will take place at 1 p.m. Mon. through Wed., service begins at 7 p.m.


Smyrna Church of Christ invites the public to its gospel meeting Aug. 4 through Aug. 7 beginning with Sunday morning worship at 9 a.m., Bible study at 10 a.m., second morning worship at 11 a.m. and night worship at 7 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. during Sun. worship. Smyrna Church of Christ is located at 552 Myers Cove Road.


AUGUST 5

The Warren County Democratic Party’s August meeting is set to be held at 6 p.m. on August 5 at the Warren County Administrative Building. The speaker for this meeting will be Thomas Savage, President of NAACP’s Cookeville/Putnam Chapter.


AUGUST 16

A car seat safety check is scheduled for Aug. 16 at the Warren County Health Department from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. McMinnville Police Department will be offering resources and safety checks to ensure car seats are installed properly. The health department is located at 1401 Sparta Street.


A community baby shower at Warren County Health Department is set to take place Aug. 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Prenatal information, games, giveaways and light refreshments will be offered.


AUGUST 17

The Warren County Genealogical and Historical Association has set its Aug. meeting for Aug. 17 at the Warren County Administrative Building beginning at 2 p.m. in the Early Voting Room. This month’s program is hosted by Dr. Michael Bradley who will be presenting “Farewell Speeches of the Civil War.”


AUGUST 18

Independent Baptist Church is holding its 32nd Homecoming on Aug. 18 beginning at 10 a.m. It will feature the Living Truth Quartet and Broth Bobby McGilliard. The public is welcome to attend the event.


AUGUST 19

Independent Baptist Church is set to hold its revival on Aug. 19 through Aug. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. each night, featuring Brother Bobby McGilliard. All are invited to attend.

A cancer support group is set to meet at 9 a.m. on the last Saturday of each month. The meetings take place at Christ Chapel Church located at 200 Chapel Dr.


The Warren County Nurse Honor Guard are volunteers of both active and retired registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who are passionate in recognizing individuals who have dedicated their live to the profession of nursing through a ceremonial activity at the request of the individual’s family. The tribute is free. The group can be contacted on its Facebook page.


Proverbs 31 Woman in a Psalms 31 World ministry holds its Humble Beginnings Cookie Ministry meetings on the second Sat. of each month. Included in their service is the preparation and packaging of cookies that are taken to current inmates of the local jails. The meetings take place at Helping Hands Ministry located at 216 E. Main Street beginning at 10 a.m., and all attendees are asked to enter through the Heavenly Closet entrance. Donations of cookies, cookie dough and labels are always welcome contributions. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a mental health organization dedicated to assisting Americans affected by mental illness. Its support groups are peer-led and offer participants an opportunity to share their experiences and gain support from other attendees. The group is only beginning and will meet every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church, 1100 South Chancery Street.
