Warren County Retired Teachers Association’s annual banquet to honor new retired teachers will be held at 5 p.m. at Centertown United Methodist Fellowship Hall. The WCRTA scholarship winner and Retired Teacher of the Year will be announced. All retired teachers and a guest may attend. 


Saturday, May 15


A yard sale benefiting Helping Animals of Warren County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the well-being of animals in the county, begins at 7 a.m. at 637 Shelbyville Road. Rain or shine!


East End Church of Christ Ladies Day is at 102 Edison Street. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Program begins at 9 a.m. Sheila Butt will be speaking on Sisters, Servants, Soldiers. A lunch will follow. 


Warren County Genealogical and Historical Association members meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Guest speaker is Graham Perry. The program is about Historic Cemetery Preservation. Location: Warren County Administrative Office’s early voting room.

Warren County government is looking to help residents who may need home repairs but cannot afford them. Through a grant from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, low-income residents may be eligible to bring their home up to code with a needed repair. Those who think they may qualify, or have a family member who may qualify, can contact the office of County Executive Jimmy Haley at (931) 473-2505 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The deadline is May 31.


Moonshine Mountain Cookies are now available. This Relay for Life fundraiser is conducted by McMinnville Electric System. Deadline for ordering is May 21 by calling 473-3144 or online at www.mesystem.net. Cookie pickup is May 28 at MES. Cost is $25 a box. Make checks payable to Team MES Relay for Life.


Bethany Cemetery Decoration will be held May 16. Donations for upkeep may be sent to Bethany Cemetery Fund, 780 Bethany Road, McMinnville, TN 37110.


The Wanamaker Reunion has been canceled for 2021.
