There will be a yard sale Aug. 2-3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church youth fundraiser at 317 Liberty Lane will have kid and adult clothing (all washed and ironed), furniture, household items, wrapping paper and much more.


Laurel Creek Cemetery in Bone Cave will be having Decoration Day on Saturday, Aug. 4. Business meeting will be held at 11 a.m. with a covered dish lunch to follow. The Central High School Class of 1969 will have a planning meeting for its 50-year reunion on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. at Mount Leo Church of Christ. All class members are urged to attend. For more information, call 931-668-3096 or 931-668-3488.

Eureka Cemetery is taking donations from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the upkeep of the cemetery. Donations can also be mailed to Rudy Smith at 402 Molloy road, Rock Island, TN 38581.

Lucky CIC will be holding a community yard sale Aug. 11 from daylight to dark. Refreshments and concessions will be available. Anyone interested in a spot needs to RSVP by Aug. 1. Please contact Russell Pedigo at 931-273-1394.

The 82nd annual Shady Grove Picnic will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at the picnic grounds, 4976 Shady Grove Road. There will be a petting zoo along with games, homemade ice cream, live music and an auction. The festivities start at 10 a.m. and the auction begins at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited and proceeds go to the upkeep of the cemetery. For more information, call 723-8717

The 7th annual Great Bodies car show and swap meet will be held Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bill Holt Chevrolet. A monster truck owned by Scotty Crouse of Manchester will be in attendance. The event is a fundraiser for Families in Crisis. Entry fees: $25 for one, $40 for two, and $50 for three. Not judged entries will be $10. The show is free to the public. There will be music, food, door prizes, etc.

  The Sweet Lizzy Project, a Cuban Rock band from Havana, Cuba, will be performing at The Park Theater on Friday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. This is sponsored by Helping Animals of Warren County.

American Legion will be holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. It is estimated more than 3,000 flags will be retired. The event to be held at Rock Island Park picnic area No. 2. Everyone is welcome to attend. American Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary will be providing the meal. For more information, contact Harold Lough at 931-205-4596. 

Applications for the Baby Show at the Warren County A&L Fair for babies from 6 to 48 months are now available at JC Penney, Ashley’s Attic, Kathy’s of McMinnville, Southern Standard and Warren County Extension Office. Completed forms and a $30 registration fee must be postmarked by Aug. 30 and mailed to: AAUW, P.O. Box 7053. No late applications will be accepted.
