Local residents have more time to consider what they will offer for two lots on Main Street.The lots, located at 207 and 209 E. Main Street, will be sold together with a minimum bid of $25,000 and restrictions that require construction to begin in 18 months from the date the city accepts the winning bid. The city was prepared to publish the lots in Sunday’s edition of the Southern Standard, May 28, and begin accepting sealed bids. However, during a recent Building and Grounds Committee meeting, city attorney Tim Pirtle suggested the city have the property surveyed prior to advertising in order to avoid any confusion on its boundaries.
