Christ Community Church offers love, food

Visitors congregate under the Farmers Market pavilion on Sunday for a Thanksgiving service and meal provided by Christ Community Church. Attendance was 325.

The Farmers Market pavilion served as an extension of God’s love on Sunday for a community worship service and Thanksgiving meal organized by Christ Community Church.

A crowd of 325 attended morning worship then enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey and all the trimmings.

“There were many people who went back for second and third helpings or took a to-go box home,” said Christ Community Church pastor Jeremy Kliewer. “That’s exactly what we were looking for.”

Kliewer delivered the message and talked about how we are dependent on God for all our needs. He said when preparing a Thanksgiving meal, we need God to provide the rain and sunshine in order to grow the food.

“Just as we’re dependent on Him for food, we’re equally dependent on Him for salvation,” said Kliewer.

Preparing the Farmers Market for the service and meal was an elaborate undertaking. Plastic was hung from the sides of the pavilion to provide a temporary enclosure and large propane heat lamps were used to make the temperature comfortable.

“The thing that impressed me most was watching the community come together to raise the banner of Christ high,” said Kliewer. “We will continue to hold events like this to reach out and serve our community.”
