Three interviews are scheduled Monday as Chamber of Commerce officials look to find the next Chamber president.
The quality of applicants has been excellent, according to Dayron Deaton-Owens, chair of the Chamber’s Executive Committee, which is selecting the next president.
“I feel like we have a really good variety of candidates with a wide range of backgrounds,” said Deaton-Owens. “There’s a candidate with a good knowledge of nonprofits. Another has a background in economic development. Another has a lot of experience with grant writing. We feel very fortunate with the interest we’ve received.”
The deadline to apply was Monday, Jan. 4. The pool of candidates includes local and regional applicants, along with candidates from other states, Deaton-Owens said.
“It’s something we’ve had a lot of conversations about this week,” she said Friday. “We want to work quickly but we also want to be thorough. This job is a very unique job that takes a lot of knowledge. We’re really looking for someone with a go-get-em attitude.”
