The Main Street Live summer concert series is over for 2021. A Beatles tribute band at Park Theater has been canceled.

“The Park Theater called me and they are closed,” said Main Street McMinnville board member Rodney Boyd. “Our dual concert with Forever Abbey Road (a Beatles tribute band) and John Salaway and the Stones River Saints has been canceled.”

The final Main Street Live concert was slated for Oct. 10 and would include both concerts – one that was canceled prior due to weather concerns and one that was interrupted by rain – during the June and July concert season.

Park Theater manager Kevin Roberts made the decision to close the facility until Nov. 1.

“All events up through Oct. 31 are canceled. We are hoping to reopen and having everything through the end of the year as normal,” said Roberts. “I had to set a date somewhere and decided on Oct. 31. We are hoping to reopen Oct. 31. That may change, but we hope not.”

While Main Street Live is provided free of charge to the public, bands do not perform for free. Main Street McMinnville and its sponsors bear that cost.

“Because we were talking about two bands and probably 12 to 14 different band members, they would like some kind of a token from us because we canceled twice on Forever Abbey Road,” said Boyd. “I would recommend we give them $500 for their efforts. We want to have them back, maybe next year, and we do not want any ill will.”

Main Street McMinnville board members unanimously approved providing $500.
