Rafaels Italian Restaurant has been a fixture at Cumberland Plaza since February, 2001. However, the restaurant will be finding a new home as Greenwood Properties has said it has plans to level the building.
The biggest business news of the week comes to us from Cumberland Plaza where it’s been learned the kind-hearted folks at Rafael’s Italian Restaurant are being boiled like pasta. After almost 17 years at their current location, Rafael’s has been asked to vacate the premises. The building, which once served as a Long John Silvers in the 1990s and survived an attic fire in 2016, is scheduled to be demolished. The land is owned by Greenwood Properties of Bowling Green, Ky. When I talked to Greenwood Properties partner Jack Sheidler on Friday, he confirmed Rafael’s has been asked to leave.
