Burning rubber
trailer fire copy.jpg
A construction worker on his way into town Tuesday morning had to make an unexpected stop when the rear wheels of his trailer caught fire. This trailer, owned by John T. Hall Contruction of Sparta, suffered significant damage to the rear of the deck and several wheels before being extinguished by the Campaign-Rock Island Volunteer Fire Department. The driver pulling the trailer through town said he believed a bearing going bad in one of the rear axles sparked the blaze.
