After years of indecision, a conclusion regarding the fate of the Blue Building may be reached this Monday, Nov. 15.
Members of the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen are slated to meet for a special called session beginning at 6 p.m. to “consider and possibly vote on the city of McMinnville’s intent to award the contract to renovate the Blue Building property subject to negotiation of a mutually accepted contract.”
That meeting will be held at Milner Recreation Center at 500 Garfield Street.
Officials have discussed the fate of the Blue Building for 12 years. McMinnville Police Department was the last government entity to relocate from it in November 2009. The building has been vacant since then.
The city declared the Blue Building and an adjacent tract surplus property in August 2021. After that, it solicited proposals and received four: three for the purchase of the Blue Building and one solely to acquire the adjacent property.
A special called session is a meeting where the governing body convenes outside of its normal session. Only items listed on the agenda can be discussed. Special sessions do not allow a time for public comment, or any other item included on a regular session agenda.
