Tickets are on sale for county musician David Ball. He will be performing at Park Theater on Friday, Sept. 28.

Grammy-winning country musician David Ball will be in concert at Park Theater on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.

Ball says he’s looking forward to performing at historic Park Theater.

“We have played a number of classic theaters in the past and it’s a favorite place to perform,” he said. “This looks like a real treat and we promise to do it justice by playing some classic country western music, from old standards to a few of my brand new songs. I still like songs built around melody and lyrics so that’s what we do. We’ll be there with a small four-piece band and I bet the acoustics are fantastic. McMinnville should be proud of such a great venue.”

Ball won a Grammy Award for the song “Old Folks at Home (Swanee River).”

No. 1 hits include “Thinkin’ Problem” and “Riding with Private Malone.”

He also has 14 total singles that have reached Billboard charts, and has a total of seven studio albums.

Ball grew up in Spartanburg, S.C., where he learned to play guitar but later honed his skills on the upright bass, which led to a gig playing bass in Uncle Walt’s Band.

The legendary trio was headed by Walter Hyatt and also included Champ Hood.

A solo career led Ball to Nashville where he signed a publishing deal and later, a recording contract.

Tickets can be purchased at Park Theater by calling 506-2787 or online at TicketSpice. They are $25 for main floor and $20 balcony.

All seats are reserved.
