A local couple was seriously injured Sunday night when their car crashed and overturned on Spencer Highway.
The driver, Michael Mosca, 32, and his wife, Candice Mosca, 24, were airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries.
The wreck happened Sunday night on Highway 30 when Mr. Mosca’s 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo left the roadway for unknown reasons. Once off the two-lane highway, his car slammed into a culvert and traveled up a steep embankment, the steep angle causing the vehicle to flip several times. Mrs. Mosca was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled. Investigators say neither of the victims were wearing a seatbelt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
