April Fool’s Day came and went on Friday and I didn’t hear of anyone falling for a truly classic joke. Here at the paper, we toyed with the idea of publishing several April Fool’s Day stories, but decided against it for the simple fact too many people would not realize it’s a joke and they would believe it.Some of these headlines were considered, but cooler heads prevailed before they were inserted in Friday’s edition:• “Warren County A&L Fair moved to January”• “City drops lawsuit, but votes to attack county”• “TDOT report declares N. Chancery worst street in state”• “Inmates use hair dryer to blow down jail walls and escape”• “Study finds all dogs in Warren County well treated.”• “School Board removes Christmas as school holiday”• “Verizon to bring 1,000 jobs to old Carrier plant.”Well that’s enough about silly headlines. Thankfully we decided to pass on the idea, which likely saved us from a bunch of irate phone calls Friday morning. But since I mentioned the topic of inmates escaping from Warren County Jail, I wanted to bring you a story all the way from Madrid, Spain where an inmate has discovered a much easier way to escape.
