The fourth annual Christmas at the Library concert will be held at Magness Library, 118 West Main Street, on Saturday, Dec. 22. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The concert will benefit Hamilton Street Activity Center and Magness Library. Hamilton Street Activity Center provides after-school activities for children who live in public housing.
Musicians who will be performing various types of Christmas music are Joe Harvey and Heather Mulder, Kevin Harvey, Lee Carr, Griffin Winton and Lucy Haston, Tim Winton, Wendell and Deanna Little, Kelcie Fearing and Robert Hennessee. Chuck Haston will accompany some singers on drums.
Children from Hamilton Street Activity Center will perform a ballet dance for attendees.
Steve Harvey, husband of activity center director Lisa Harvey, will emcee the event.
“It’s fun. It’s like a variety show. We always have a good time,” said Steve. “The money raised will benefit the Bloom Where You Are Planted program at Hamilton Street.
The program was started by Lisa Harvey as a way to help students with homework and reward them for receiving good grades.
Magness Library director Brad Walker said, “This concert always sells out. We have a variety of music. It is very pleasant. Everyone has a ball and the food is always good. We try to use all the money from this for kids books. We have replaced a lot of our books in the last couple of years in the children’s part of the library.”
Harvey said the concert raised $1,000 last year that was divided between the center and the library. Refreshments will be served by The Grove.
Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at Magness Library. Call 473-2428 to reserve tickets.
