Lawson given year in jail for snatching womans purse

A man who snatched a woman’s purse has been sentenced to a year in jail.The man, Larry Lawson, entered a guilty plea to the charge of theft and was directed to serve an 11-month, 29-day sentence consecutively to time he owes for violation of probation.His sentence comes after a woman parked on Big Sink Road reported someone had stolen her purse.“I noticed my purse missing and saw a white car drive away,” the woman recalled, noting she and a friend got in the car and fell in behind the mysterious vehicle. “We followed them and found them at Myers Cove Road boat dock.”When deputy John Bratten arrived to investigate the theft, he reported finding Larry Lawson and another man in a confrontation with someone at the boat dock.Lawson admitted to taking the woman’s purse when he was questioned by the deputy. The suspect then showed the officer where he had thrown the stolen purse.
